Senggigi Beach: The beautiful and natural tropical beach

Visiting Senggigi on Lombok Island may need to be one of your agendas. Just imagine, when entering the beach area, you will be swept away by a gentle breeze, which blows along the coast. You will be served by the exotic charm of the beach.

There are many activities that can be done in this beach, such as swimming, water play, diving, snorkeling, sunbathing, or making sand castles. When evening comes, you can go to walk through the beach, or relax at the seaside hotel while waiting for sunset.

Furthermore, you can visit Pura Batu Bolong. When you walk down the Senggigi Beach about thirty minutes, you will find a temple built on the reef which is located on the waterfront. By the people this temple is named Pura Batu Bolong. According to local legend, once in the temple is often held sacrifice of a virgin, as a serving of food to shark who live on the beach. Another legend says, the temple is a place where the women committed suicide by plunging into the sea because of a broken heart.

An interesting thing at night during the full moon, you will find many people who take advantage of the warm sand of Senggigi to medical therapy. They bury part or all the body to the neck for about 2-3 hours. This therapy is believed to cure various diseases, such as fatigue to paralysis. If interested in this activity, you can join and try it.

If you want a souvenir, there are many sellers of pearls and woven fabric with various motifs and colors. Pearls have been assembled into beautiful jewelry that can be easily found for sale on the beach. If you want to assemble that pearls by yourself, you can buy plain pearl beads. Plain pearl is usually sold in the form of a string necklace. You can assemble them as you wish.

Location

Senggigi Beach is located on the northwest of Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, West NusaTenggara Province, Indonesia. To go to Senggigi Beach is quite easy, because there are port and airport on the Lombok Island. From Bali Island, you can depart from Karang Asem Port by ferry directly to Senggigi, it takes time about 30 minutes. This travel will be faster with a plane from Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, towards Selaparang Airport in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara capital city, only takes about 15 minutes.

There is another path, you may depart from Padang Bay Port, Bali, using a ferry towards to Lembar Port in Lombok Island. On the way,you can see beautiful natural scenery, and many dolphins are chasing each other following the ship. The trip from Padang Bay to the Lembar Port takes about 4 hours. From Lembar Port you can continue to the Mataram City. Senggigi Beach only 11 kilometers distance from Mataram, can be reached by taxi and other vehicles.

Kecak Dance : An unique dance from Bali

Tourist View - In Bali there is an unique dance played by men in the tens or more dancers, called Kecak Dance. The dancers sit in a circle, with a specific rhythm, they sound "cak" (in English you might say "chuck") and raising both hands. It's described as troops of the apes that help Rama's fight against Rahwana in the Ramayana stories. Rahwana is an evil giant who had ten heads. In that story Rahwana stole Shinta, Rama's wife. So there was a war when Rama retake her wife. Rama won the war because it is assisted by troops of the apes. I believe you know about this story even though just a little.

This dance is often called "the monkey dance" by the tourists, come from Sanghyang ritual. That's the tradition in which the dancer is unconscious because it communicated with the spirits of the ancestors. Indeed, Kecak Dance is very mystical. This dance is not accompanied by musical instruments, but only using kincringan (a string of small bells) on the feet of the dancers who wore a plaid cloth on their waist.

Kecak Dance is created in the 1930s by Wayan Limbak collaborated with a German painter, Walter Spies. They create it based on ancient Sanghyang tradition and take from other parts of the Ramayana stories. This dance became popular when Wayan Limbak and his Balinese dancers do a tour around the world to introduce it. Until now Kecak dance became one of the famous Balinese arts. Since 1970's Kecak dance in Bali has continued to experience changes and developments in terms of story and performances, not only based on the one part of the Ramayana but also on other parts of the story from the Ramayana.

Kecak dance festivals are often held in Bali, either by governments or by the art school. Number of dancers largest ever staged in the Kecak dance was recorded in 1979, which involved 500 dancers! At that staged, that dance took the story from Mahabharata, that illustrate a war between Kurawa and Pandawa. However, the record is broken by the Government of Tabanan regency, which organizes colossal Kecak dance to 5000 peoples on 29 September 2006, at Tanah Lot, Tabanan, Bali.

This dance is very mystical. Dancers who have been possessed can't be hurt by the keris (a kind of knife) because the dancers become immune to weapons. Because of its mystical, to organize this dance should be led by a priest.

Kecak dance can be found in many places in Bali, but that in Uluwatu is the most interesting to watch. Uluwatu Temple is a temple, which is rich in historical value and the value of mystic, that stood on the cliff with a height of about 30 meters in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Uluwatu is known as a good place to surf and spend time at the beach when sunset.

If you love shopping, there are many souvenir shops that sell handicrafts, accessories, beach clothing, and shirts. Other facilities are hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants that serve local and global menu.

To go to Kuta Beach, you can start from Denpasar, the capital of Bali. Kuta Beach is located 11 kms to the south. From Denpasar, you can use a hire car, taxi or public transport and only takes about 20 minutes.

3. Dreamland Beach

Dreamland Beach has a unique location. You will be amazed when you got there. Try to walk to the top of a steep cliff in the village of Pecatu. Looks down there: you will see the white sand beach that stretches equipped with seating and beach umbrellas. Kelimutu : Beautiful Three Color Lakes

Tourist View - Kelimutu Lake, also known as the Three Colors Lake, located in the Kelimutu mountain area, 1.690 m above sea level, precisely in the district of Ende, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The lake is formed by the eruption of Mount Kelimutu occurred in 1886.

The lake is unique because it has three colors: red, blue and white, and always changing. The lake is located in the same area and separated by a narrow and steep cliff.

Kelimutu region that is still beautiful, promises extraordinary charm. Pines, edelweiss, and chirping birds can be enjoyed on foot from Wolowaru to Flores. A good time to enjoy Kelimutu is the morning until about 10 o'clock. When you pass the time then the fog began to fall and will close the scene.

Natural resources of Kelimutu Lake supported by the cultural richness of traditional houses, traditional dances, weaving and crafts that are characteristic of local residents. There are also hot springs, waterfalls, and traditional villages that must be visited.

Direction

If you get on a plane from Jakarta or Surabaya, you will transit in Bali about two hours, then the trip will be followed by a smaller plane to Ende. From Ende, journey continues by bus. Its costs around Rp 15,000 - Rp 25,000. You also can rent a car. Although more expensive but the trip could be more fun because the driver will tell you about people's culture. The driver acted as the tour guide.

The journey taken about 45 minutes past the uphill and winding paths. Travel from Ende will be completed in Wolowaru, but you must stop at Moni. Here there are many inns, both private and managed by local communities with relatively cheap price. For home stay in the local community house price is around Rp 45,000 - Rp 70,000 / night and privately-managed lodging per night price of about Rp 90,000 - Rp 150,000 depending on the facilities provided.

It highly recommended to stay in Moni. Why? Because the beauty of the lake three colors that will appear in the morning around 06.00 am until 11.00. Meanwhile, after at 11.00 to the above, at the tourist sites will be foggy, so cover up the beauty of Lake Flores. Because of this condition, you are advised to stay at the Moni so in the morning you can immediately go to that place.
